Mount Allison University is pleased to announce that former longstanding Mountie all-star and assistant soccer coach, Roy Chineh, will assume the head coaching role for the University's men's team, beginning now for the 2011 season.
As a Mount Allison athlete, (1998-2002), Chineh captured MVP honours, major University merit and Sportsmanship awards, and capped his athletic career by being named the school's Most Outstanding Senior Athlete in 2002.
An Atlantic University Sport (AUS) soccer all-star in the early 2000s, Chineh has been assistant coach for seven years with the Men's Soccer Mounties. Four of the past seasons Chineh has served assisting with head coach Barry Cooper. Cooper for the past two years had taken on the responsibility of handling both the men and women's teams, but is now self-assuredly handing the controls over to Chineh.
In addition to his Mount Allison coaching duties, Chineh's resumé includes: three-year coordinator/coach with the Sackville Youth Soccer Association from 1999-2001, former coach of the Memramcook Under-18 championship boys team in 2008, assistant coach with the First Touch U-18 boys, and coach with the Sackville U-13 boys.
A 2002 Mount Allison Commerce graduate, Chineh is currently a results
and performance officer with Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency in Moncton.
