Coach's Word
The best thing about Mount Allison University is the complete undergraduate
experience that it provides. At Mount Allison you will have the opportunity
to engage in first class academic programs, while being exposed to a
wealth of extracurricular and social activities. One of the most engaging
and rewarding extracurricular activities you can participate in is varsity
sport.
We have been fortunate to have had a very successful badminton program,
and I say this as a coach who measures success in many different ways.
We are three time defending league champions and have been competitive
at the national level each year. In addition to our success on the court,
we remain cohesive in our off court activity as well. We fundraise; support
campus events and causes, and the athletes are all very close friends.
We're looking forward to another competitive season this year, where we
have aspirations of capturing our 4th consecutive ACAA title and our best
result to date at the national tournament.
Although a varsity sport, badminton requires less of a time commitment
than some of the other sports. We practice from October 15 - February
15, approximately 2 times per week. We have 4 tournaments per year. You
also do not have to be a top level player to be an active and important
member of our team. We have advanced provincial players on our team and
we have beginners who are solid athletes and experienced in other sports.
